Before the cleaning company arrives: how to prepare the sofa and what to agree in advance

A visit goes faster and the result is easier to judge when the sofa is accessible, the fabric is known and the scope has been agreed in writing beforehand.

What to do

  • Clear a working space of about a metre around the sofa and move small furniture, rugs and electronics out of the way. Technicians need to reach the back and the sides, and bringing equipment through a cluttered room costs time you pay for.
  • Find the care label and photograph it, remove loose items from under the cushions and vacuum lightly if you can. Tell the company about pets, allergies and any spot you want treated first so the visit starts with the right product.
  • Confirm in writing what the quote covers: which pieces, whether cushion covers are cleaned separately, drying time announced and the form of payment. Through the quote form these points are part of the company's confirmation.

What to avoid

  • Avoid pre-treating stains with supermarket products the day before. Residues react with professional cleaning agents and can leave a halo that was not there originally.
  • Avoid leaving valuables, keys or documents inside the sofa or under the cushions. Technicians move cushions and may remove covers; small objects get misplaced.
  • Avoid planning to use the sofa right after the visit. Ask the company for its drying estimate and keep the room ventilated during that time.

When to call a professional

If the care label says dry-clean only, if the fabric is velvet, silk, viscose or leather, or if the sofa is a rental or belongs to a holiday flat with a changeover deadline, mention it in the quote request. The verified company covering your municipality adapts the method and the schedule and confirms both before the visit.
